How Volunteering Works

Helping Hands Society of Los Angeles welcomes volunteers who want to make a direct impact in their community. Volunteers play an essential role in helping us prepare food for families in need.

Volunteer Activities in Southern California

Volunteers assist primarily with building grocery bags for our Hands-On Food Program. Tasks may include packing bags with available items such as:

  • Fresh vegetables

  • Fruits

  • Meat (when available)

  • Drinks

  • Snacks

  • Other donated food items

Contents vary daily based on donations received.

Volunteer Schedule

  • Days: Monday – Friday

  • Hours: 7:00 AM – 1:00 PM

Volunteers may serve for a few hours and not a full shift, depending on availability and program needs.

How to Sign Up

To volunteer:

1. Contact our office to express interest.

2. Provide:

  • Your name
  • Preferred days of availability
  • Available hours

3. Your name will be added to our volunteer list.

4. Our team will contact you to confirm a volunteer day based on program needs and availability.

Volunteer Selection

Volunteer days are scheduled according to operational needs. While availability is considered, volunteers are invited to come in on assigned days selected by our team to ensure smooth workflow and safety.
